From the time we first walk into a Sunday school room as children, we are shown images of Christ but what did He really look like? We live in a society today that is far too focused on physical appearances. Thanks to TV and Internet, this vanity is compounded and we lose sight of what really makes up a person, which is whats on the inside. Jesus was a Jew so we can scratch the blond haired, blue eyed images we have been led to believe as being the appearance of our Lord.

The Bible say very little about what He really looked like. In fact there is no mention of it except in Isaiah 53:2b, “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” Jesus was an ordinary man in appearance with none of the attributes that would attract us to Him and would arise from a lowly position. His true identity was only visible through the discerning eye of faith. Jesus came to teach us about and to test our faith as only by faith can we be saved.

Jesus came as GOD's suffering servant wearing none of the usual emblems of royalty or physical beauty that would cause Him to be singled out. For those without faith, He must have appeared to be just an ordinary trouble maker but for thos with faith, He was the King of Kings and Son of GOD.

Jesus came as a servant of the LORD and suffer for our sins and His appearance while suffering is described in Isaiah 52:14 “His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness” and in the books of (Matthew 26:67; 27:30; John 19:3). His appearance was so awful that people looked at Him in astonishment. These are the images of Jesus that we should seek to see in our mind's eye as by this act of unmentionable suffering, He changed the world forever.
