Mark 10:45

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Many of us Christians, myself included, are guilty of complacency. We think that praying from our drawing rooms is enough to establish our relationship with GOD through Jesus' name. There's more to it than just accepting Christ but we must answer His calling to do good works. When Jesus walked among us in mortal form, He could easily have just prayed for us but by doing so, He wouldn't have  set the examples for us that GOD intended. Jesus was constantly on the move performing miracle after miracle and teaching the ways of the new covenant. He was doing GOD's work, which was planned even before we were  created.

“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.” John 13.14.

By choosing to accept Christ in our lives, we choose to answer His calling and to rise up and follow His example. By making an effort to do works in His name, we are honoring Him. This doesn't mean that we must forsake everything else in our lives. It just means to do what we can. Sacrifice some of our time and effort in His name and know that its a good thing and not a burden. As the crowd told Bartimaeus in Mark 10:49, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Cheer up, on our feet, our Lord is calling us to do His work and by doing so, we will be healed from our most deadly of afflictions, sin.
