Jesus was dead. Imagine being one of the disciples and what they must have thought after the crucifixion. They believed that Jesus was the Son of GOD. In fact they believed that Jesus was GOD in human form so how could GOD be killed? Especially in such a cruel and gruesome way. They must have felt bitterly disappointed to say the least, as well as scared that they, as Jesus' followers would probably be sought out and suffer the same fate.

Jesus' body was placed in a tomb carved into rock with a huge boulder covering the entrance. On the third day after His death, Mary and some of the other women went to anoint His body and discovered the boulder rolled away. Mary, looking into the tomb, saw two angels sitting where the body should have been and no Jesus. When she turned around, there He was! Alive and in the flesh. Jesus had risen. There could be no better proof that Jesus Christ was truly the Son of GOD or GOD in the flesh. HE had made the ultimate sacrifice of HIMSELF bearing all the weight of the sins of mankind on HIS shoulders. The world could now be saved.

There are at least twelve different resurrection accounts where Jesus appeared to the disciples as well as other followers, beginning with Mary and ending with Paul. Now these appearance were not visions or dreams. They were tangible accounts where He ate and spoke with those He appeared to. He even allowed Himself to be touched where there were holes in His hands and the spear wound in His side. Jesus was alive but transformed into what I like to believe as a physical spirit form. Although tangible, He was not constrained by space or distance. Basically He could walk through walls and appear wherever and however many times at once that He chose to. Is this how we will be transformed when we are resurrected?

Anf just before He ascended to heaven, He gave the Great Commission to the disciples. The world could now be saved and it was up to the chosen to let the world know.
