GOD promises us eternal life through Jesus Christ. What would eternal life be like and how would we exists day by day for eternity? For me, this is the most difficult part of the Gospel for me to imagine. I don't think I'd want to live my life as it is for eternity but the Bible also says we will be transformed into spiritual beings that are filled with love. No longer will we experience hate, jealousy, envy, desire but be content and we will be in the ever-loving presence of GOD, our Father and Jesus Christ, our Lord and brother in paradise. It's a hard concept for my limited mind to vision but it sounds pretty good.

The Bible also says that we will be judged according to the book of life. All of our deeds are recorded and we will be held accountable for our sins and rewarded for our good works. Does this mean that there will be a hierarchy in Heaven? If we just squeak by, will we be in heaven but in a lowly position? Again, this is hard for me to imagine. I don't doubt the Word but its tough to visualize so I've looked at it in a more logical way. When we transform, we cast of all earthly characteristics so even if we do enter heaven in a lowly position, we will feel no envy or disappointment. Also since GOD is love, then its safe to assume that those who score higher on judgement day would be the ones who love more. Eternity, if it does have a hierarchy, would be like having a job where your boss loves you and his boss loves you even more. The higher up the ladder, the more love you will receieve. In that sense, being in a lower position sounds pretty good.

We are conditioned by the world we live in and are used to, so its difficult to imagine paradise or an existence free of worldly feelings, such as hate and envy. I believe GOD wants us to begin our training for the afterlife by working hard to eliminate these weights that drag us down. GOD wants us to go to HIM in heaven. HE wants us to pass HIS tests. If HE didn't, HE wouldn't have sent HIS only Son to die for us so that we may have eternal life by HIS side. Thats how much the BIG BOSS loves us.

To be perfectly honest, I don't spend much time pondering what my reward in heaven will be. In fact, I don't seek any reward at all. I only seek the knowledge that I may be serving HIM in some small way and whether its atoning for past sins, or planning future good works, what matters is what I do, starting right now.
