Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
It is easy to become puffed up with pride as it is part of our haughty human nature. If we are perhaps more fortunate than some, we tend to rub it in their faces. Pride is a dangerous thing as it inhibits one's desire to learn. Prideful people think they know it all and have become totally self-reliant, hence self-centered, thus turning theor backs on GOD even thinking they don't need HIM. Isn't this what happened to Lucifer?
On the other hand, the humble person is open to listening and that translates into learning. He doesn't think he knows everything and relies on GOD to guide him in the right direction. The humble Christian realizes that if he is left up to his own devices, he will stray from the truth in GOD's word.
Even on a social level, its easier to be around a humble person. He is a good listener which makes him a good conversationalist. The proud person is boastful and not interested in what others have to say. Humility is a great quality and is a direct immitation of what Christ was like and that pleases GOD.
