2 Timothy 4:6-7
(6) For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. (7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Paul was ready to pass the torch to the younger apostles like Timothy and Titus to continue growing ther churches in the gentile world. Now here's a man that spent half his life persecuting the church as one of its most fervent adversaries. Aftet his cinversion, he went on to become one of the church's greatest champions. Paul penned fourteen books of the Bible and was responsible for countless churches and multitudes of conversions. No one did more to spread the Gospel to the non-Jewish world than he did.
So as his life finally began to ebb, he reflected on his life in this letter he epistle. He probably regretted his early years but he knew he was forgiven through Christ. He had no regrets and was satisfied with the great work that he had done for GOD. He toiled tirelessly and was never rewarded physically. He was beaten and flogged numerous times, stoned and left for dead, almost drowned at sea and spent many years imprisoned. Paul was persecuted at every turn yet at the end of the race, he had no complaints. He was content.
We strive to better our lives and often want more than we have. We are not contented with what GOD has provided us and that shows mistrust. When we take a step back and examine what we are blessed with instead of always thinking about what we want, then we may realize that there are many reasons to be contented and THAT shows trust in GOD.
