1 Timothy 4:16

Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

 

In Timothy's epistle, he advises the readers to make sure they are cautious in what they receive as the true knowledge of the Gospel. In verse 1 he warns, 1"Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,..."

 

One of the best works we can do is to save another's life through the truth of the Gospel, so making sure that we don't accept any wrongful interpretations is important. Many will pervert the teachings to suite their own needs so make sure that only the words of the Bible serve as the base for knowledge and teaching. Lives are at stake so be decerning.
