Matthew 5:3

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Humility is key to estanblishing a relationship with GOD as we learn from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, where He lays out the Beautitudes. The 'poor in spirit" has absolutely nothing to do with one's circumstances, such as health or wealth. In fact, it has nothing to do with anything physical ot tangiible at all. The poor in spirit is essentially the exact opposite of haughty, arrogant, self promotiing, or anything to do with selfish pride.

Humility causes us to self examine and compare our own spiritual worth with that of our Holy FATHER. In doing so, we realize just how utterly impoverished and worthless our spirit is. The poor in spirit understands that he is totally dependant on GOD, both physically and especially spiritually. Humility is the result of the realization of dependence on GOD and the knowledge that our true place is on our knees giving thanks to GID for HIS love and guidance.

Jesus was sent to help us understand this and to provide a spiritual guide that will lead us back to our MAKER through the belief in HIS Son.

I John 5:4-5, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—ourfaith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."
