Revelation 2:10

(10) Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

So many things written in the Bible seem to have special significance for me personally. In trying times, I can always find a passage to comfort me. Revelations 2:10 warns of suffering for our faith. Now this doesn't have to mean that we will be persecuted or stoned in the public square but we may face less severe tests of our faith. Unless we devise a way to live in a Christian bubble, we will face scrutiny, ridicule and taunting by nonbelievers saying that we believe in mythology and ancient ideals. This is slander thrown at us by the prince of the power of air in his attempt to derail our faith. I've had many discussions with doubters and nonbelievers who misquote the Bible or just simply have formulated the wrong messages from the Word in the Book.

Another challenge I face is, as an American living and attending a church in China, my limited command of the language deprives me of the fellowship I so desire with other Christians. Don't get me wrong, I am truly inspired and touched by the ever growing number of the faithful here and love seeing the church's attendance growing every Sunday but I struggle to surround myself with Christian fellowship due to the language barrier. I crave the opportunity to really have in depth discussions about our GOD and Savior or to connect with other Christians or the church pastor when I need comforting. I also miss the opportunity to comfort others even more so.

These are minute issues to say the least. Revelations tells about those whom satan will through into prison and face severe tribulations for their faith. The fact is, if we can attend a church meeting without fear of persecution, imprisonment, torture and even death, then we are better off than three billion Christians in the world. I admire, am saddened and pray for my brothers and sisters who have to endure such torment. They are an inspiration and will surely be granted the crown of life.
