GOD created us as friends. HE gave us paradise and HE walked with us. The relationship was beautiful but we chose to ignore HIS righteousness and seek ways to circumvent HIM. When Adam and Eve went against GOD's will and ate from the tree of knowledge, they ruined GOD's trust in us but HE so loved us that HE gave his only Son that we might live as stated in the book of John.

Throughout history, even before Christ came to save us, GOD has provided ways for us to prove our regret for sin and to reconcile with him. In the Old Testament, HE gave Moses the law, which if followed, would please HIM enough to grant reconciliation. GOD does not bear grudges. Nothing pleases HIM more than us finding our way back to HIM. When a child disobeys his parents then runs away from home, all the parents care about is the child coming back. Any anger they felt over the disobedience takes a back seat to the longing they feel for the child to return home.

The same thing can be said about our relationship with GOD. We've disobeyed, we've run away and are lost and all HE wants is for us to find our way back home. The difference is, for us to find our way home, we need to go on a spiritual journey. We must overcome temptation and become sympathetic to one another. The miracle of changing our hearts has to take place and we have to steer ourselves clear of many obstacles such as hate, jealousy, greed, immorality and fear.

The road back home to GOD can be difficult but the good news is HE has provided us a clear map in Jesus Christ. If we follow that map, we can make GOD very happy by going home where HE intended us to belong. With HIM.
