Romans 5:12
"But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,”
GOD's grace is immeasurable and that is the point Paul tries to make in Romans 5:12 but many have misinterpreted it over the centuries. At first glance, it seems as if Paul is saying that its OK to sin and infact, we should sin as much as we want so that GOD can glorify HIMSELF through increased grace towards hard core sinners. It's even become a populare doctrine in many chirches these days but I don't think Paul was trying to tell us that through GOD's grace, we have an invitation to sin carte blanche. We will all sin even though we may wish not to. Paul is letting us know that when we fall prey to sin, GOD's grace forgives us. I think he is also saying that no matter how much we've sinned before our conversion, that too is OK as GOD will forgive and accept us when we repent.
Paul then says in Romans 6:1-2, 6 "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Once we've accepted Chrst as our Savior, we remounce sin, no longer willingly seek it. Sure we will stumble but through GOD's grace, should we acknowledge our slip ups, we will be forgiven. The key is to no longer sin intentionally. GOD is on our side and HE is rooting for us to succeed so that HE may embrace us with HIS everlasting grace and love.
