1 John 2:1-2
(1) My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense?Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. (2) He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
First lesson, do not sin. But we know that to be absolutley sin free is impossible for us. As hard as it we may try, we will sin again and again. The best we can do is be aware and fight against committing sins every waking moment ofg every day.
WQhen we slip up and we will, we have a champion who pleads our cases befoer GOD the judge. Lucky for us its HIS one and only begotten Son. Even luckier for us, the JUDGE wants us so much to be innocent, that HE sent HIS only Son to bear the weight of our sins through sacrificing Himself. Now with the weight of our sins on His shoulders and not only your's and mine but the weight of the sins of the ENTIRE WORLD on his back, He states our case to a rigged judge. Knowing this alone should make us abhor sin and resist committing it whenever we recognize it.
