Can the Bible be a reliable source for historical reference? I believe it can. In doing so one must understand that the Bible is GOD's word mainly in reference to HIS chosen people, the Israelites, so historically, we learn the plight of the Jews. I believe GOD chose the Jews for their suffering and also for their strong commitment to faith. HE took pity on them and decided to champion them and through their struggles, we learn the ways of our LORD.

Now, historically, there are so many who discredit the reliability of the Bible starting with the creation. Was the universe and all in it created in just seven days? As I've pointed out before, science has given us the Big Bang theory, which claims that the universe was created in less than a second so seven days is not too hard to believe.

Did the great flood of Noah's Ark really take place. There is scientific evidence from around the world that the flood did happen around the time the Bible states. Basically geologists have uncovered a layer of sediment caused from flooding that dates back to around 5000 BC and have concluded that the earth suffered a great flood that wiped out much of life on this planet. The extinction of many of the beasts of which we have fossils happened then.

Did the exodus of Moses and the Israelites really happen? Evidence supporting this has been hard to find as the ancient Egyptians would strike all references to events they wanted to forget from all their records, however archeologists have discovered ancient graffiti that is distinctly jewish. This means that the jews did live in Egypt around the time of Moses and most likely were slaves. This discovery lends credibility to the story of the exodus as we now know that the jews were there and they left. many scientific conclusions have been based on far less.

The most important part of the Bible history is the story of Jesus Christ. This story has overwhelming evidence through eye witness accounts. Over five hundred people came forward and are documented as having seen Jesus after His death. Paul and other apostles have written that they were eye witnesses to the events that the Bible documents in regards to the life of Christ and miracles He performed.

The battle between physics and spirit will wage on with many chosing to place their faith in science, which means we live a random life. I choose to place my faith in GOD and have meaning govern my actions during the remainder my lifetime.
