We have diluted the power of love these days by trivializing it in my opinion. I, more than anyone, am guilty of this. We say we love just about anything that we may be just fleetingly fond of. "I love these shoes." or "You gotta love it."  But what does GOD's love mean? GOD loves us unconditionally.

Most of us can't even imagine the depth of an unconditional love. Most love these days is purely conditional. We may love someone because they are beautiful or nice or trustworthy or funny. This kind of love has conditions attached. Couples that once loved each other, split up because they have fallen out of love. Something happens that caused either their expectations of one another to change or they have found someone they love more. These are all conditional love and are fleeting for the most part. I say I love cheeseburgers but I haven't eaten one in a long time as they are unhealthy so I choose not to satisfy my love on that condition. We, as worldly humans, may not have any true understanding of GOD's unconditional love.

The closest we get to unconditoonal love is the love we have for our children. No matter what they do, we harbor love for them and sacrifice what we can so that they may have an easier path in life that we had. Many of us, myself included, would willingly give up our life for our children. We would do anything to protect them and we cherish them above all else in our lives. This is as close to GOD's love for us as we get.

John 3:16 For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life.

This goes beyond our love for our children. I can't even begin to imagine sacrificing my child for any reason, yet GOD did for us. He condemned HIS only Son to suffering and death so that we may live. Imagine a power so almighty as GOD loving us so much that HE made such a sacrifice for us who continue to sin right in front of HIM. This is  pure unconditional love a HE feels it for us. How can we not praise HIM?
