Colossians 3:12

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

 

When we handle something we hold as precious and fragile, we do so with gentleness. We are careful not to break it for that would be a loss. We humans are fragile objects. What we say and our actions towards others can really hurt them just as their actions and words can hurt us. Everyone has encountered harsh treatment and to be blunt, it makes you feel pretty bad. We can be made to get embarrasses, self-doubting, sad, angry and so many hurtful emotions from being treated poorly. Knowing this, we should remember how much hurtful treatment makes us feel and avoid actions that make others feel the same. Philippians 4:5 says, "Let your gentleness be evident to all." 

 

When we display gentleness, we are showing GOD's character for HE is gentle and kind beyond anything we ohysically know. Next time you feel that cruel streak that we so often feel, remember Colossians 3:15 and let compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience push aside the cruelty. Do so in GOD and Jesus' name. Amen!
