God is holy. (Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:15)

When we think of the word "holy", we recognize it as being associated with GOD. Whether its a holy relic or a saintly person or holy water, ground, sanctuary, it is directly connected to the LORD. In a person, it can be described as a spiritually pure quality, such as a holy love but it is still in reference to GOD.

So what does it mean when we say GOD is holy? In GOD's case, it means GOD os separate or there exists a searation from other things. GOD is unique. There is not another being anything like HIM. HE is the only being that is perfect and will not, cannot sin. Because HE is holy, HE can only do whats true and good. There is nothing morally lacking in HIS character. GOD is perfection and HE wants us to be perfect like HIM so we can join HIM in paradise.

We know this is true through Jesus' words in John 17:11 when he says, "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name - the name you gave me - so that they may be one as we are one"

Jesus, who was the Son of GOD and one with GOD, showed us what it means to be holy. He was perfect and sinless and His GODLY nature displayed pure love and frogiveness. Even when He was about to die on the cross, after suffering unimaginable physical and mental anguish, he forgave us by saying, "Forgive them father for they know not what they do." Even while being painfully executed after agonizing torture, Jesus made excuses for us. This is the holy love I choose to believe in and am infinitely thankful for.
