Matt 23:25-26

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also."

Isn't it odd that Jesus rebuked the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees the most, even more than outwardly visible sinners such prostitutes and thieves? These were supposed to be holy men appointed by GOD through the generations decended from Aaron as the Levitical priests. With the priesthood came much power amongst the people. They were alotted the best food from the sacrifices of worshippers and were given the best lans as their inheritence but being men, they too advantage of this honor and used it to exalt themselves instead of honor GOD. They had become hyspocrites and Jesus had a serious disdain for them. On the outside, they dressed themselves up as holy but on the inside, they were rotten.

Unfortunately, the attitude of the holy men in those days has decended to our times. So many claim to be of GOD as they seek to scam innocent people of their hard earned savings. They preach the end of times but, as Jesus said, only GOD knows when that will be. Politicians claim to be Christians yet they promote Islam. When the public calls them out, they suddenly quote the Bible and make sure they are seen going to church. They use GOD for self serving publicity. We must beware who we believe as Jesus said, many would falsely come in His name.
