1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

(11) Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, (12) so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Paul makes three points on how to lead a good Christian life. First he states to lead a quiet life. When we do so, we take time to focus on less earthly matters. People who are always chasing recognition and want to be seen, have lost sight of the true importance of being spiritual. They have succumbed to the temptations of this world. A quiet life leads to the ability to relfect and to appreciate the simpler things that GOD has to offer us in thisa life and it ultimately leads to a closer relationship with HIM.

Then Paul tells the Thessalonians to mind your own business. It is not our place to judge or pry into other's affairs. While we should show kindness and love for one another, sticking our noses into other people's business can only lead to gossip, slander and judgement. Focus on your own affairs and make sure your own house is clean.

Lastly he points out the importance of hard work. Idleness causes spiritual death. Through hard work, we build our physical and spiritual selves and that's GOD's intention for us. If we follow Paul's advice, we will become independent of this world and others will appreciate us much more and so will our FATHER.
