“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many."
Nothing thats really worth our while is ever that easy. Perhaps the effort to achieve worthwhile goals is what really makes the end result appealing. The effort is what strengthens our spirits and makes us better people and that's what I believe GOD wants from us. Usually when we endeavor to take the easy way, it ends uo in disaster and even if we reach a goal by the easy route, the result is not as sweet as if it took effort.
Our human nature causes us to crave the wrong things, such as wealth, material possesions, lustful things, power and our own glory. We are sinful by nature so the path of sin is easy and the gate is wide, as we are told in Matthew 7:13. For us to gain the most worthwhile thing possible, which is reconciliation with our MAKER, we have to go against our very nature and work hard to change through repentance. The gate is narrow, made even narrower by the forces of evil that surround us. Satan is hard at work feeding our sinful natures with temptation and lust. Its no easy feat to resist but we have certain tools that GOD provides us to assist our fight, such as the Bible, the Church and fellowship. If we choose, HE armes us with HIS armor, which is faith and if our faith is strong, our GOD provided armor can become impregnable.
