Isaiah 53:4-6

4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

For me, this presents the true esence of the Holy Book, the Bible. Every word, every letter in the Book is of great importance but it all leads up to this. This being the way we are saved and thats through the suffering of one man who selflessly gave everything so that we may be reconciled with our Maker.

Jesus gave up more than His life for us if you take time to consider it. First of all, Jesus is GOD so GOD gave up HIS glory to become a man and for thirty three and a half years, HE chose to live in humility. HE showed us how to live the perfect life of obedience to HIMSELF. So His second sacrifice was the life He lived. He did not succumb to worldly temptations even though He must have felt the same desires as we do. He shoed us the way to resist.

Thridly, He sacrificed for us in torment and death, which opened a whole new way for us to regain fellowship with GOD. He paid for our sins with His own blood and suffering.

I think that everything in the Bible aside from the creation in Genesis is the lessons and history leading up to the way for our salvation. The amazing thing is, Isaiah wrote this hundreds of years before Jesus was even born.
