God is omnipotent (all powerful). (Genesis 18:14; Luke 18:27; Revelation 19:6).



Our CREATOR can do anything HE wills, no matter how great or small. HE can zap an entire universe into existence or cause a light breeze to change direction. There is nothing GOD cannot do. Luke 1:37 says, "For with GOD nothing shall be impossible."

Imagine if this kind of power were granted to a person, they would most likely become drunk with it and cause some serous damage. GOD, on the other hand, has always had this power so one could say, HE wields HIS omnipotence responsibly through an eternity of experience. GOD is all powerful and by virtue of HIS nature, HE uses that power for only good purposes.



GOD's nature forbids HIM from sinning or ignoring sin in us. HE cannot do anything cruel or absurd or contradictory to HIMSELF. But can't GOD can do anything, you might ask. The answer is yes HE can but HIS nature, which may well be self imposed, forbids HIM from doing evil. GOD has always existed and HE is everywhere, so HE knows that evil is not the way to joy and being pure love, HE seeks for us all to join HIM in joyous union.



When GOD makes a promise, HE has the power to make it happen. HE wouldn't lie to us as it goes against HIS nature. So when HE promises us life through the belief in Jesus Christ, HE has the power to make it happen. Just as HE cannot sin, HE has the power to forgive those who do.
