2 Peter 1

5b “make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

 

Our relationship with GOD is a process that requires growth on a daily basis. Each day we should strive to add to that relationship. It all starts with faith but faith alone may not be enough to reconcile with our MAKER. With faith, we lay the foundation of the buidling which will eventual become a house for the Holy Spirit. We then must lay the bricks to the foundation by adding goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and crowing our Christian character structure with all important love.

 

This is a daily effort and ech day we should ask ourselves, how have we grown in our relationship with GOD since the day before. Using 2 Peter 1 as a referrence, we can determine whether we have grown in any of the buidling blocks that the verses state. By adding increased measures of these qualities, we can ensure that we lead productive and effective Christain lives and will grow in the eyes of Jesus Christ.
