Ezekiel 34

"Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?"

GOD uses shepherds to chastise the rulers of Israel, accusing them of not doing their jobs. A good leader is one who cares for those he leads. GOD put kings and rulers in place to benefit the people but so many become driunk with power and serve themselves. Assuming the responsibility of being a leader is not something that should looked at as an opportunity for personal gain but more as an opportunity to further those we lead.

If you look at the world leaders today, you would be hard pressed to find a benevolent one. Not many follow the example that Jesus Christ, the leader of leaders, set down for us. Jesus led His flock with humility, self-sacrifice and love. He used His leadership to save our very souls through His own death and sacrifice. While He walked in the flesh, He never sought personal gain for exaltation. He was the perfect embodiment of humility and love. He was GOD in the flesh.

Matthew 11:29

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

GOD smiles on the meek. Being meek doesn't necessarily ,ean being weak. It means being selfless and humble. A humble leader is a person who doesn't exalt himself and that leaves more energy to do what is right, which is benefit those he leads. This translates into all walks of life from our work places to thr church.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

A good shepherd cares well for his sheep. He feeds them before he feeds himself and ensures their safety and conditions. This is what he does and is his primary fundtion.
