Leviticus 23:24-25

(24) "Say to the Israelites: 'On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. (25) Do no regular work, but present an offering made to the LORD by fire.' "

GOD gives us commands not to exercise HIS power or to get us to perform meaningless tasks in order to please some sort of need for glorification. All and I mean every single one of GOD's commands are for our own benefit and to help us grow spiritually. During the Feast of Trumpets, just like any other day of rest and feasting, GOD commands the Israelites to do no regular work. Just as on the weekly sabbath we are meant to take a rest from our everyday toil. GOD stresses no "regular" work for just as Jesus healed on the sabbath, we are cleared to extraordinary work to help one another.

These days are GOD commanding us to rest from the mundane toil so that we can take time for fellowship though church and so that we can reflect and meditate on HIM. By doing so, we exercise our spiritual sides and thus grow spiritually.

Yes, we are to glorify GOD and what better way to do so then to meditate on HIM thus growing closer to HIM. This has lawyas been GOD's purpose for us, to know HIM better and by doing so, we will not be able to help but love HIM more.
