Genesis 2:15

(15) Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

When we think of Adam in the Garden of Eden, we conjure up images of a carefree, innocent frolicing in paradise but as Genesis 2:15 tells us, Adam was put in the garden to tend and keep it. Even then, we were meant to have duties and responsibilities. The fact is, we are at our best when we are kept busy. If we laze around at work, time seems to slow down but of we dive into our work, it seems as if the time flies by. This feeling alone is proof enough that we were meant to fulfill duties, whether small or large.

In these troubling economic times, many have sadly lost their jobs. I'm sure most would say that they hated theor jobs but hate being unemployed even worse. This of us fortunate enough to still have jobs shouldn't take them for granted. Part of our genetic make up breathed into us by GOD is the need to fulfill duties. To accomplish things and not lie around idle. With this in mind, we should constantly look to dedicate our time and effort into contributing to our jobs, families and to the Church.

Proverbs 13:4 The appetite of the sluggard craves but gets nothing, but the desire of the diligent will be abundantly satisfied.

We are blessed to be instilled with the need to work so the next time you feel like your job is pointless, think again.
