Revelations 3:10
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
"Endure patiently". Jesus Christ promises us that if we do so in His commandments, He will keep us from the hour of trial in the end of times. To endure means to persevere under any conditons. If we remain steadfast, even when faced with trials and temptations, then we have endured. Now when He says patiently, the meaning is not to stand by idly and wait for things to happen. Jesus is not referring to patience as a passive activity. In this case, patience means to be able to stand and face the tests that we will have to endure. Quite the opposite of passive inactivity as we will no doubt have our metal tested. But if we endure, then Christ will come to our rescue and shield us from the storm.
When Jesus first came, He was the ultimate example of patient endurance. He faced so much adversary and suffering, yet He showed nothing but kindness, gentleness and love, even for those who so persecuted Him. Our own salvation relies on our doing our best to immitate the example set by our Lord.
