Prayer should not be an intimidating practice. You don't have to use eloquent speech or use Biblical words such as "ye", "thou" and "haveth" or "maketh". Prayer is simply communication with GOD. As long as your prayers are from the heart, you can speak freely and openly and in your own words. As the Bible tells us, we need to pray as often as possible to reconcile with our HEAVENLY FATHER. GOD likes it when we pray in numbers, so church and prayer groups are important but HE also hears us when we pray alone as Jesus often did.

GOD hears and answers most prayers that come from our hearts but not in the ways we often hope for. Many times, HE doesn't answer our prayers if they are born out of indifference, stubbornness, doubt or, as often is the case with me, self-indulgence. Many times in my life, I have struggled financially and have prayed for relief. Every time relief came but not how I wanted. Looking back, I realize that what I prayed for at the time was not just for relief but for windfall. I didn't ask for enough, I asked for more than enough, which was, of course, not granted. The important thing is that enough was given to see me through.

I've learned that if I pray with my heart and unselfishly, all the things that I need will be provided, even if I don't pray for them. Prayer is a powerful thing if done right. I also find it simply comforting to talk to GOD whenever, wherever and however I want. HE's my best friend.
