Ephesians 4:14

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

When Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:3, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and becomelike little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." He is referring to a child's ability to have faith and believe. There are certain characteristics of children that He is not referring to and these are the traits Paul points to in Ephesians 4:14.

Children, as innocent and lovely as they are, can be a handful. They are easily swayed by others and have short attention spans. My little girl has above average intelligence for her age, yet she still can't or won't focus on one thing for too long. Her loyalties constantly change, with her one day only wanting her daddy and the next its mommy. In fact, whoever spoils her more is her flavor of the day.

Many adults are the same way. I know people who one day profess to be atheists, then the next will declare they are Buddhists. Whoever whispers what they want to hear in their ear, is who they follow. They way of Christ is not always what our flesh wants to hear. In fact it seldom is but when we become mature and steadfast in our faith, the way of the flesh becomes unimportant. Only the mature Christian can have his soirit truly cleansed and when that happens, we are on course to redemption.
