"O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps." Jeremiah 10:23.

Jeremiah knew that when we are left up to our own devices, we usually fall way short of what GOD intends for us. Even though GOD knows what will happen before it does, I believe HE leaves choices up to us. GOD knows all possible outcomes but HE let;s us decide which path to choose.

For example, if I pray for the ability to provide for my family and for a new car and GOD provides the means, its of little to no consequence what color car I choose to buy. My choice has little effect on those around me. But if GOD provides just enough means to provide for my family and I choose to buy a new car with the means, then my choice effects my family.

All too often GOD provides us with what we need and we make the wrong choices on how to use those provisions, then we blame GOD for not answering our prayers when, in fact, HE actually has. GOD will always provide what's needed but HE leaves it up to us to choose to make the most of HE gives us. Instead of buying the new car, would it be so burdensome to suffer my old car and use the money saved to better provide for my family or to share it with those less fortunate? In the end, a car gets you from point A to point B but wisdom in our use of what GOD provides gets us so much further. Even the most precision Italian sports car cannot get you to spiritual contentment, which is true happiness.
