Amos 8:11-12 (11) "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord GOD, "That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the LORD. (12) They shall wander from sea to sea, And from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, But shall not find it."

If ever there was a time that sounds like Amos' prophecy, it would be now in my opinion. GOD tells Amos of a famine of HIS word, which is far worse than lack of food or water as it starves our spirits. Because we don't feel the physical hurt of a starved spirit, we may not realize how much we are lacking in overall fulfillment. In fact, we have lost most of our connection with our spiritual side in lieu of physical desire. I can only speak for myself when I say, I have felt so totally unfulfilled in my life even when I've had an abundance of material possessions. Only now that I am seeking GOD, do I begin to feel more contentment.

When GOD says, "They shall wander from sea to sea, And from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, But shall not find it.", I think HE means that we may think we are seeking GOD's word but is it for the right reasons? We constantly pray to GOD to better our lives with more material wealth, better conditions and better luck but do we really seek GOD to enhance our spiritual growth?

I believe we can only begin to find GOD when we seek HIM and pray to HIM to assist us in serving HIM. Do not seek GOD for the self and but seek HIM for HIM. Ask HIM to allow us to serve HIM better and when we do, the rest will be granted and we will truly find HIM.
